So Much For That Decision

Several years ago, I decided that I would never photograph another wedding.

I had just finished a wedding for a friend, with a borrowed camera and no post-processing. I was completely overwhelmed at the prospect of being solely responsible for capturing the memories of such a special day.

But, something happened.

I gained a mentor and eventually a new camera. I started blogging. I started sharing my work on Facebook. And slowly, very slowly, I began to build my confidence.

Since making the decision to never do another wedding, I have assisted on 4 and been the primary photographer for 2… and I’ve booked 3 more for the coming months.

I feel like I am finally making progress, personally and aristically. I’m becoming The Awkward-ish Photographer (and leaving behind the full-blown awkwardness).

I still consider myself a hobbyist… but I’m feeling a passion for photography that I have never felt before. It’s addicting.

So, bring it on! I’m ready to document life, awkwardness and all.

Jenna Baze, you are inspirational. I love that you persist in stretching yourself past where you are comfortable, and that you continue growing always. (In spite of just how awkward/vulnerable it makes you feel).
